One of the things we’ve all come to know and love about living in the 21st century is the ability to buy virtually anything we desire and have it delivered to our doorstep the very next morning. Such instant gratification can be accomplished with the help of Amazon Prime, the global conglomerate many of us harbor a love-hate relationship with (But really, what beats same-day delivery?).
While some might lament the decline of the American department store, it’s hard to beat the ease and convenience of fast, free, and personalized wardrobe shopping. Amazon Prime is now branching into the retail clothing sphere, offering members dedicated personal shopping assistance and try-before-you-buy services, through Amazon Prime Wardrobe.
Prime Wardrobe is free for all Amazon Prime members and allows users to select up to eight items to try on for up to one week prior to purchasing them. Any clothes that don’t fit can be returned free of charge to Whole Foods, Kohl’s, or UPS, similar to any other Amazon return, and users will only be charged for the clothes they keep.
Exclusive for Prime members, Amazon Wardrobe now offers personal shopping assistance as well. Simply complete a personal style quiz to allow Amazon Stylists to get to know you, then choose how often you’d like to receive a new wardrobe of up to 16 items (shipped every 1, 2, or 3 months). Once your personally tailored box arrives, you can try the clothes for free for up to 7 days, and then only pay for the items you keep. Better yet, Amazon partners with many familiar and popular brands to offer clothes for every budget, from Lee and Wrangler to Theory and PAIGE.
No worries if you’re a never-Amazon type or want to explore brands more geared for luxury; there are alternatives out there, such as Harvard student-founded Stitch Fix.
