How to Make This Year Your Best Yet

We are almost halfway into 2019; how has it been? Have you accomplished some of your goals? Have you forgotten what they were? Maybe you’ve decided to change them to better align with your newfound perspective. If events during the past five months have altered your mindset, it might be the perfect time to recalibrate and set new goals for yourself. This year is still happening, there is still time, and there are still many opportunities waiting to be seized. What’s the first step?

Set a goal.

Of course, this seems like a no-brainer. Strangely enough, it’s typically the hardest part. When you’re setting a goal, you have to consider many aspects: obtainability, reward, sacrifice, and effort. All of these factors will play into your grand scheme of how to work towards and accomplish this goal. You’re going to have to give your all and work towards it every day.

Set a goal for every area of your life.

Okay, so you’ve come up with some goals, but can you name a goal that touches every facet of your life? These goals could pertain to learning, your career, money, relationships, family, or traveling.  When you begin setting goals that ambitious enough to push you in every aspect of your life, you become aware of which goals may require more attention, more time, and even more discipline.

Create a plan for each of these goals.

You’ve defined the goals. Perfect. Now you’ve got to create a plan for how you aim to achieve these goals. You should focus on things you can control; this will give you the ability to put yourself in the driver’s seat and navigate the road ahead.

Reflect and adapt accordingly.

Were you able to take one step forward today? Did you fall behind on your plans? Are there ways to adapt the schedule and get back on course? What can you improve in your process? By tracking your progress, you can easily see where missteps may have occurred, or even where you can double down and make serious progress. If things are not working out, adapt.

Celebrate your successes.

Finally, once you’ve hit a milestone – celebrate! All of your hard work, energy, and perseverance is something that should be acknowledged! You’ve made headway step by step, and that’s something that deserves recognition. You’re getting closer and closer to the final product: success.

Remember, if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. If you continue to set goals year after year, you’ll be satisfied with the progress you continually make. Remember to set new goals as you complete or adapt older ones, to reflect your current aspirations. It’s your journey, and everybody else is just witnessing it.
