Are You Living The Life You Want To?

It’s not a mid-life crisis, it’s a mid-life evaluation. Do you want your life to have more purpose? Are you grateful for where you are now? What would you like to change about your life in this very moment? Is there a way to become more tuned in with your inner voice?

If any of these questions ring true to you, you’re not alone. A Wall Street Journal article tells readers that today’s 40-and-50-somethings are “skipping the stereotypical sports car and Vegas weekend and pushing headlong into fitness and mindfulness instead.”

So, how does one reinvent themselves? You start with making some changes that will radiate positivity through every facet of your life:

Spend as much time as you can doing something you love: Make it a priority to do something that brings you joy as much as you can. You should not neglect your own happiness in the process of creating a stable life for you and your loved ones.

Surround yourself with people who prioritize happiness: If you want to increase your happiness, you need to hang around others who share your happiness. You might want to extinguish meaningless friendships and emotional vampires. The goal should be to minimize the impact negative people can have on you, and how much time you share with them.

Set personal goals that bring you towards the ultimate place you want to be in life: These goals only need to be as challenging as you make them. If you divide each goal into smaller steps, it’ll be easier to manage, and any setbacks won’t feel so detrimental. You should allow others to share in the celebration of each goal, as celebrations are an effective way to share happiness with others.

Stay in the moment: Let go of the past (grudges, resentment, disagreements) and set them free to the universe. By allowing yourself to let go of the past, you are opening yourself up to live a life full of positivity and opportunity.

Put your health first: By making smart choices regarding your wellness, you’ll feel the ripple effects throughout the mental and emotional areas of your life. A healthy lifestyle can have both short- and long-term health benefits that allow you to live the way you want. As a bonus, taking charge of your health can help you live longer, create positivity, become a role model for someone, and fill your life with energy.

Delegate more often: If you can delegate certain tasks or responsibilities to someone who’s willing to help, take their offer. Satisfaction comes when the load is lightened, and you can focus on the responsibilities that are making a difference in your life.

Schedule downtime for yourself: It is not true that the busier you are, the happier or more important you are. Sometimes the opposite is true: you make yourself busy to avoid having to deal with an unpleasant aspect of your life. Schedule more time to relax and enjoy some of the activities that make you happy.

Focus on what’s important to you: Don’t live someone else’s life. Are your decisions geared towards what is truly important in your life? Take some time to understand what you value the most in life. If you’re not moving in the direction that coincides with your life philosophy, what can you do to change that? You’ll find a sense of happiness once you begin living a life that is meaningful to you.

Of course, these are just some of the steps you can take to reinvent your life. Change is never easy, but it’s necessary to make a difference. Whether small or large, each step towards bettering yourself is an accomplishment and something that deserves a celebration – so, congratulations and good luck!
