Review by Myra Salzer
Full disclosure here, this book was written by a friend and mentor, Charlotte Beyer – a true class act and the founder of IPI (Institute for Private Investors). This sensible, confidence-building book is written for the common individual investor who wants to either do his/her own investing, or delegate investment management wisely. Beyer is unwavering in her commitment to de-mystify the gobbledygook industry to keep the reader from being intimidated by the industry’s lexicon and jargon, or hoodwinked by the myriad investment service providers and salesmen. In short, she provides clarity and paints a realistic portrait for expectations and results.
Woven throughout the book are simple pointers, such as rating what’s important to you:
1.The People you work with
2.The importance of being Philosophically aligned with your advisor
3.The Process that is used to make investment decisions
4.Performance
5.Costs (endearingly referred to as Phees in order the keep the “P” theme consistent)
Perhaps best of all, the book is an easily-digestible 100 pages, making it easy for the average investor to get a solid foundation in a short period of time.
After reading Wealth Management Unwrapped, you will feel empowered to take the next steps toward controlling your financial future. The book can be found on iTunes or Amazon.
