Review by Myra Salzer
Cheryl D. Snapp Connor’s most recent book, Beyond PR: Communicate like a champ in the Digital Age, provides a landscape for working with journalists as they themselves navigate writing and publishing material in this new, ever-evolving environment. She presents practical avenues for businesses to communicate with journalists and PR firms to accomplish their businesses objectives and avoid alienating the journalists and PR firms in the process.
It’s more than a “how-to work with journalists” piece. She gives cogent pointers on handling social media, as well as customer reviews. Actually, this short book is as much a life-coaching resource as it is a PR-coaching resource. With insights on negotiations in communications, one can accomplish what Snapp Conner writes about, regardless of whether they are entrepreneurs or marketers in the field of PR.
One thing I really appreciate about Snapp Connor is her gracious acknowledgement of others. She doesn’t have the competitive bent that so many writers do; rather, she holds many colleagues in high esteem and gives them credit whenever possible.
