We recently learned of a revolutionary idea capable of changing the volunteer world as we know it. Volunteering is a widespread need, and many organizations would cease to exist were it not for the volunteers that make their operations possible. Volunteering adds to your relationships, boosts your self-esteem, and just all around makes you feel better, while also making the world a better place. So why is it only 1 in 4 people volunteer through an organization? So often people find themselves with time they’d like to invest in helping others, only to discover that it can be frustratingly difficult to find the places that so desperately need them, especially if your availability is sporadic or irregular.
JoeVolunteer! is looking to solve that problem in a very cool way.
JoeVolunteer! is designed to connect the places that really need help with volunteers who can help them. The brainchild of entrepreneur Joe Polish, JoeVolunteer! will make the process as easy as using your smartphone. When you find yourself with time to give, simply open the app and locate places in your community that need you. You decide when and where you want to help, in real-time. As Joe explained on his I Love Marketing podcast where he first introduced the concept, it’s really like Uber for volunteers (start listening at 00:38:53 if you want to jump ahead).
When Chip Franks (aka Chief Joe) heard Joe speak about his idea, he took the next step towards making it a reality. He wrote a plan, and with the help and guidance of Joe and his incredible group of friends, set the project in motion. You can visit JoeVolunteer.com to learn more about the project and its creators. JoeVolunteer! is in its infancy and the app is currently in production. You can help make the project a reality by contributing to the Indiegogo campaign right now. The goal is $50,000 and they’ve raised just under $20,000 of that to date – but act soon, the campaign ends on November 30, 2015.
Every “average Joe” can be a hero to someone in need.
